There are a plethora of different hair sprays out there, making it more difficult to decide which one is right for your hair. Since everyone is different, you probably won’t get the same results as your friends with the same brand of hair spray. To help you decide what is best, here are a couple of hair product definitions and guidelines.
Sprays marketed as flexible will make your hair just that, flexible. They are not meant to keep your hair from moving; they will give your hair a bit more body and keep the strands more inline with each other. If you are looking for something to keep your hair in place, try the strong and extra strength sprays. If you don’t want your hair to move, your best bet is the maximum or ultra strength sprays or a freeze hair spray. These are the strongest and will hold a style considerably longer than the other, making them ideal for fancy dinner parties or prom.
There are also different types of application methods. Some hair sprays can be applied consistently over your hair, while some are applied one squirt at a time, giving you better control over the amount of spray you are using. Also pay attention to the targeted hair type for each spray; the ones designed for fine hair are geared more toward holding hair with very little body. If you would like a hair spray with a little extra aroma, several different brands have developed fragrant scents for their hair spray. There are even some hair sprays designed for summer when UV rays are strongest and humidity is most punishing on hair. Of course, one of the most important factors is the way hair spray makes your hair feel. Many of them have been developed so that they are not sticky after application, which will keep your hair softer to the touch.
