Straight hair makes someone look beautiful and tidy. Many people straighten their hairs at home by themselves instead of going to a salon. This maybe a cheaper way of doing it, however, it may also give some problems if you aren’t careful. The best way is to read the instructions of the straightening product you want to use carefully and to research on the internet the common problems that may arise. In this way, possible damage to your hair can be avoided.
    .
So, how can we straighten our hair at home without damaging it? Here are a few tips that will help you take care of that precious hair of yours. Some people go to the salon in order to straighten their hair. This is a faster way to straighten one’s hair, however, the chemicals used in these hair straightening products may result to hair damage in the long run. If you need to go to a salon, you have to make sure that the products used are of good quality. These products may be a bit more expensive than the others, however, it is better to spend a few more dollars than to regret the damage done later.
    .
There are also natural ways to straighten your hair without using these commercial hair straightening products. You can boil fresh coconut milk until it reaches an oily consistency. This can also be used as a natural hot oil treatment for your hair. Wait until the oil is not hot anymore. Apply the coconut oil to your hair. Dip a towel in hot water or heat it using a dryer then wrap the the towel around your hair. Leave it for about 30 minutes. Rinse well with your favorite shampoo. No need to use a conditioner as the oil itself heavily conditions your hair. You will observe a shiny, well-moisturized straight hair.
    .
You can also straighten your hair using a hair flat iron. Before you straighten your hair, it is best to wash it first and to shampoo and condition your hair. This will make it easier for you to do the straightening as your hair will become softer. Dry your hair thoroughly as you may burn yourself if you straighten it with wet hair. Take note that you are using a flat iron and it uses electricity. You can then directly straighten your hair using the flat iron or you can apply equal parts of a mousse to your hair so it will follow easily whatever direction you want. Divide your hair into sections using a hair clip so you can work on each section one by one carefully. It would be easier to straighten your hair using a fine-toothed comb and combing the hair once in awhile after ironing it so the strands will follow that direction. You can use the flat iron using your right hand while the comb on your left hand follows the iron by combing your hair after.
    .
Clip the upper part of your hair with the hair straightener and slowly pull the iron down with a little force on your clip. In this way, the hair will be thoroughly ironed and it will become straighter. Continue the process until the desired result is achieved.
    .
If you have wavy or curly hair, the same process can be applied, however, it will take you a little longer as wavy and curly hair are harder to straighten because of their natural form. The straightened hair using a hair flat iron is just temporary. Your hair will become straight only for a day or two. However, it will go back to it’s original form after that. If you want to have permanent straight hair, you can always go to the salon and have a professional hair stylist do this for you.
    .
Milk is also a natural straightener and moisturizer for your hair. You can mix a cup of milk with a teaspoon of honey then apply the mixture to your hair and leave it on for an hour or two. Rinse off with shampoo then detangle your hair with a fine toothed comb. Your hair will not only be straightened but will also be conditioned thoroughly as well.
