One of the most popular ways to shape eyebrows is by waxing. Waxing looks easy and fast when done in the parlor but will it give the same ease and speed when done at home by ourselves? The technique is to learn the process thoroughly how it is being done. Here’s a step by step process to guide you.

Eyebrow waxing should be done properly and carefully. If the instructions on the package kit won’t be followed correctly, it may result to hair follicles irritation or even infection.

You will need a professional waxing kit which you can buy online or from the nearest department store or drugstore. The kit should contain a complete set of jar, waxing strips or a muslin cloth and spatula. You will also need an eyebrow toothbrush, a good quality astringent, a white eyeliner to help you outline the shape of your eyebrow, tweezers in case a single or two hairs weren’t picked-up by the wax.

1.) Brush your eyebrows from the middle section of your face then outward in order to stay all in place and to soften them. You can apply a little amount of astringent around your eyebrows to anesthesize the area. You can also use ice cubes in order to numb the area around your eyebrows as this process maybe painful most especially for first timers. Using a white eyeliner, outline the shape you want your eyebrows to have. Be sure to identify which area you want your eyebrows to start and where it will end. Normally, the arch and the peak of your eyebrows is usually right above your pupil but it also depends with every individual.

2.) Once you are done with the outline, read the instructions at the back of the kit carefully so you can follow it properly. Give extra detail to precautions that are given. After doing the preparation of the wax as stated at the instruction kit, apply the wax thinly to your brow hair. Make sure that the heat of the wax is tolerable. Upon application, just apply the wax around the outline. Then, this is the painful part. Remove the wax with the direction against the hair growth. This maybe painful during your first brow waxing but the pain will become tolerable as you do it again. To make it less painful, only wax a portion of the brow hair at a time. Any hair outside the outline that wasn’t removed by the wax can be removed using tweezer.

3.) After doing the whole process, it is important not to expose your face under the sun as this will irritate the waxed area. Some parts of the outer layer of the skin is also removed so it is important to give extra care to that part as the inner layer of the skin is quite sensitive to the sun’s UV rays as well as some chemicals.

It is okay if you won’t make it perfectly the first time. After a few weeks, your brow hair will grow again but this time it will be lesser and thinner. It would be easier for you to do the process again.
